Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
The Backstory
The Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance (CTBTA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing hope and support to brain tumor patients and caregivers, while advancing brain tumor awareness, quality of care, and brain tumor research.
Founded in 2006, the CTBTA has worked hard over the years to evolve from a grassroots organization into an established and successful non-profit in Connecticut.
The Challenge
Recognizing that search engines play a vital role in their discoverability by new patients and caregivers, the CTBTA partnered with Knowles Kreative on a SEO initiative to enhance their organic search engine rankings. The ultimate goal of this project was to help the CTBTA further its reach, continue its growth, and expand its ability to provide the much-needed support and resources to brain tumor patients, families, and medical professionals in Connecticut.
The Implementation
Having built the last two iterations of the CTBTA website, Knowles Kreative had already put into place much of the technical and foundational SEO necessary for this project. A new blog section was added to the website and Knowles Kreative began writing monthly blog articles optimized for keywords important to the projects’ success. At the same time, new backlinks were secured helping to further improve the CTBTA’s relevance and authority within the search engines.
Finally, Knowles Kreative began to monitor, review, and optimize single pages on an ongoing basis to ensure the SEO integrity of the entire site and stave off any degradation. SEO elements affected included:
- Title tags
- Meta descriptions
- Meta titles
- Content
- Images
- Broken links
- And overall health monitoring via SEO reporting tools
The Results
Knowing that the fruits of SEO labor take time to appear, the CTBTA patiently waited for the benefits to kick in. As of January 2025, the two-year project has seen significant gains in key SEO metrics and the project will continue throughout 2025.
